TIME TO READ | Interactive Installation

Project Description:TIME TO READ is a three-wall installation situated among gallery walls of works by other artists. It is partially site-specific, but primarily designed to be read as a text, beyond an exhibit of pieces of art hanging on a wall. The viewer is intended to be a reader: to consider the meaning of the objects themselves, their relationship to each other, to the built space which contains them, and to this point in history. Beyond glancing through and noticing a giant tortoise sculpture, a painting of a cat, a 9-foot tall paper cupcake, or an illustration of a small monkey escaping prison, the participant is invited to consider details and to read explanatory text and commentary. I have chosen and arranged the elements as a 3-d essay that will engage the reader on-site. Further engagement is invited through written and drawn contributions. I hope that the experience will continue to generate questions and observations in the future.

Visitors' input: a green cup for the cat; smart comments by viewers who read
