Subject: New resources on voting in California jails!
ACLU Email
Claire –
Voting is a cornerstone of our democracy, and most people who are incarcerated in California jails have the right to vote. However, people inside jails experience many obstacles when reaching for the ballot box. Too often, these obstacles prevent them from having a voice in our democracy.
That's why we're excited to announce the release of our newest resource – Voting in California Jails: A Community Toolkit. This toolkit is designed to empower community advocates, county elections officials, and local jail administrators to break down barriers to voting for people in county jails.
We also invite you to join us at noon on Thursday, August 27, for a webinar that will highlight key tools from our new toolkit, including different models for jail voter registration and turnout, as well as best practices for doing voter engagement work in jails. Find out how to connect with local organizers and agencies in your area and build a jail voting program in your county!
Please help us get the word out about the toolkit and upcoming webinar using our social media guide! Together we can make our democracy fairer and more inclusive.
